Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, a weekly column that explores what one can buy for a set dollar amount in various NYC neighborhoods. Is one man’s studio another man’s townhouse? Let’s find out! Today, we’re looking at apartments for sale for around $390,000.

Bay Ridge

In Bay Ridge, this two-bedroom co-op is asking $399,000. It has one bathroom, four closets (including a walk-in one), a living room area, and a dishwasher. Though the floorplan is somewhat skinny, the bedrooms do seem spacious. The building allows both cats and dogs and has a common laundry room and a common courtyard. Maintenance charges are $1,117/month. It’s located on 73rd Street, between Ridge Boulevard and Colonial Road, a 10-minute walk to Shore Park and near the R train at Bay Ridge Avenue.

The building allows pets, and charges $290/month for maintenance. It’s located on Fifth Avenue, between 1st and 2nd streets, mere steps from J.J Byrne Playground and a 12-minute walk to Prospect Park. It’s also near the F, G, and R trains at Fourth Avenue.

Midtown East

Another studio in Turtle Bay, is asking $375,000. It has one bath, two closets, and it was renovated two years ago, per the listing. The building has a common laundry room, a bike room, and allows both cats and dogs. Maintenance charges are $1,076/month. It’s located on East 49th Street, between First and Second avenues, near the United Nations headquarters. The nearest train is the 6 at 51st Street.

Upper West Side

On the Upper West Side, this very skinny studio co-op is asking $395,000. The 350-square-foot apartment has 11-foot ceilings, one bathroom, one closet, and a lofted sleeping area. The building has a common laundry room, a bike room, and accepts cats and dogs. Maintenance charges are $742/month. Its location may be one of its main pros, as it sits mere steps from Central Park and near the C and B trains at 86th Street.

Prospect Park South

And, finally, this condo studio in a new Prospect Park South building is going for $399,995. The 496-square-foot unit has floor-to-ceiling windows, oak floors, in-unit washer/dryer, and a dishwasher. The building allows pets and has a gym and a bike room. Taxes come in at $475/month and common charges $384/month. it’s located on East 19th Street, steps from Prospect Park and the B and Q trains at Church Avenue.
