10 Best Hot Chocolates In NYC That Will Keep You Cozy This Winter
Based on today’s weather, I think it’s safe to say we’re officially in hot chocolate season…and we couldn’t be more excited!
NYC has no shortage of trendy spots to try, but when it comes to this chocolatey drink there’s a handful of places you absolutely have to taste so we decided to map it out for you. Some of these tasty creations are particularly chocolatey, others are all about the marshmallow topping, but one thing is undebatable—you’ll be smiling from the warmth and deliciousness with each sip. Don’t believe us? We’ll let the pictures do the talking.
Blue Stripes
This new chocolate shop near Union Square has a “Chocolate Playground” where you can get hot chocolate served to you in fluffy mousse form!
Dominique Ansel Bakery
If you love hot chocolate, you’ve probably already grabbed a cup from Dominique Ansel Bakery. Drinking it is great, but watching the marshmallow flower open up is where the real fun is.
Martha’s Country Bakery
If you’re looking to kick your hot chocolate game up a notch, the red velvet hot chocolate at Martha’s Country Bakery is what you need.
Max Brenner
It’s only fitting that a restaurant dedicated to chocolate would make an amazing cup of hot chocolate. In fact, they make nine variations of these sweet liquid treats! Some of which include: peanut butter, hazelnut, Mexican spicy hot chocolate, Italian thick, and salted caramel.
Snowdays NYC
With various locations across NYC, Snowdays makes delicious hot chocolates with either big traditional marshmallows, or with a generous amount of Lucky Charm marshmallows!
Squish Marshmallows
No other place makes hot chocolate marshmallows like Squish. You can take your pick of marshmallows from donut- and snowflake-shaped, to sprinkle-infused squares. All are incredibly fluffy and pair perfectly with their homemade hot chocolate.
The Chocolate Room

If you’re looking for a rich treat, you’ll want to order the Dark Hot Chocolate from The Chocolate Room in Brooklyn. It comes with one of their delicious homemade marshmallows!
Bibble and Sip
This cute little spot that has an alpaca as its logo and serves up adorable pastries, house made baked goods, and savory treats. They also have gourmet coffee and, of course, a fantastic hot chocolate.
Maman
This hot chocolate is for the experienced consumers. Their unique hot chocolates include their signature lavender hot chocolate (which is made with dried lavender leaves), and their new nutty chocolate chip cookie hot chocolate (which is made with walnut milk, oak milk, and topped with cookie crumble).
McNally Jackson
This cozy cafe is located within an independent bookstore in the heart of SoHo. While they’re not “known” for their hot chocolate, they certainly should be because anyone who’s had it would tell you: it’s amazing! So grab a good book (or several, you’re in a bookstore for Pete’s sake!) and a warm mug, and get ready to settle in for the winter.
Here’s a map of their locations to see which one is closest to you:
(Note: some have multiple locations. Not all locations for each restaurant are included in this map)
