Five apartments, five NYC neighborhoods
Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, a weekly column that explores what one can rent for a set dollar amount in various NYC neighborhoods. Is one man’s studio another man’s townhouse? Let’s find out! Today, we’re looking at apartments renting around $2,700/month.
Upper West Side
This one-bedroom apartment on the Upper West Side is renting for $2,700/month, and it’s surprisingly pretty for this price range. Aside from its location, mere steps from Riverside Park, the place has a lot going for it: It has a spacious living room with a fireplace, a dishwasher, two closets, and its own balcony; hardwood floors and exposed brick add to its charm. A con: no pets are allowed.
Sutton Place
Meanwhile, in Sutton Place, this elegant one-bedroom is also renting for $2,700/month. The 600-square-foot unit has a spacious living area, an eat-in kitchen, hardwood floors, a dishwasher, and a decorative marble fireplace. It sits on East 58th Street, between First Avenue and Sutton Place, a bit far from its closest trains, which are the E and M at Lexington Avenue-53rd Street.
Downtown Brooklyn
In Downtown Brooklyn, this modern, 504-square-foot studio is renting for $2,677/month. It comes with an in-unit washer/dryer, a dishwasher, large windows, and hardwood floors. Aside from its location—near from City Point’s mall and all the transit options in the area—its building has a ton of amenities including a common rooftop, a gym, and a children’s playground.
Harlem
This renovated two-bedroom apartment in Harlem is up for grabs, renting for $2,695/month. The 825-square-foot unit has hardwood floors, a relatively large living area, and a sleek bathroom. It sits within a five-story building on Adam Clayton Powell Boulevard that has a common laundry room. It’s near the A, B, C, and D trains at 125th Street, and a short walk to Marcus Garvey Park.
Bushwick
And, finally, in Bushwick, this cute 517-square-foot, one-bedroom unit is renting for $2,695/month. It has a spacious living area, a private balcony, a dishwasher, in-unit washer/dryer, and two closets. (Alas, pets aren’t allowed.) The building sits on Willoughby Avenue, close to the M train at Central Avenue, and an eight-minute walk to Maria Hernandez Park.
