The Academy Award-winning actress bought the apartment with her husband Adam Shulman back in 2016

Academy Award-winning actress Anne Hathaway has just listed her lovely Upper West Side penthouse, which she bought with her husband Adam Shulman back in 2016. Asking $3.495 million, the two-bedroom, two-bathroom co-op is located in the Upper West Side/Central Park West historic district.

Some interior details include original moldings, French casements to its windows, and white oak floors, a lot of which were added following a renovation by Gramercy Design. One of the penthouse’s main perks: its large private terrace with a dining area and views of the Dakota and the San Remo.

The neo-Georgian building used to be known as the Clark Estate Houses, and was built between 1902 and 1904 as part of a row of 18 structures by architect Percy Griffin. According to the Landmarks Preservation Commission’s designation report, quoting a 1906 Architectural Record article, the structures were built for families of moderate income to have “a home in fact, a place where there may be a real family life as it used to exist before the city grew to proportions that forced real estate values up so high that now only the wealthy can live in the houses.” (And that, somehow, still describes the times we currently live in.)

Located at 18 West 74th Street, the penthouse is listed with Jeremy V. Stein of Sothebys’s International Realty. Maintenance charges come in at $1,775/month.

The terrace offers views of the Dakota and the San Remo.
The apartment was renovated by Gramercy Design.
