The West Village is a dreamy neighborhood, with its Belgian block streets and gorgeous Greek Revival and Federal historic structures—but it’s also one of the city’s priciest, with megamansions and high-end townhouses aplenty. That’s why this lovely co-op studio in the Weehawken Street Historic District , which just hit the market with a $539,000 price tag, caught our eye.
The building is one of 14 structures within the historic district, whose “architecture illustrates the area’s long history as a place of dwelling, industry, and commerce, much of it maritime-related, and is a rare surviving example of this once typical development pattern on Manhattan’s west side waterfront,” according to the Landmarks Preservation Commission’s designation report.
The apartment sits inside an Italianate-style structure that was built in 1873 by William E. Waring. The place itself has nice details including exposed brick, a decorative fireplace, crown moldings, and oak floors. Another highlight is its location, at 304 West 10th Street, mere steps from Hudson River Park and near the 1 train at Christopher Street.
