The Highest Observation Deck In The Western Hemisphere Will Soon Open In NYC
The building currently under construction at 30 Hudson Yards already has the highest outdoor observation deck in the Western Hemisphere. At 1,131-feet high and 765,000 pounds, the deck’s installation began in the spring of 2018, and was the given the name Edge this year. Now, tickets have finally become available to visit the deck when it opens in March 2020!
Edge will be located on the 100th floor and will jut out of the building about 80-feet, enclosed by a nine-foot-tall glass wall. There will also be a champagne bar, restaurant, and event space located between the 100th and 101st floors, so you can enjoy the views while you dine. While the space isn’t officially set to open until 2020, tickets to visit the 7,500-square-foot outdoor deck have already gone on sale for $36 (general admission online). However, if you decide to wait, you’ll also be able to purchase your tickets on-site for $38.
When construction on the deck began, Jay Cross, the president of Related Companies (one of the building’s developers along with Oxford Properties Group) said in a statement:
“Whether you’re interested in a cocktail, a celebratory dinner, or just want to see what the city looks like from 1,000 feet up in the sky, the Hudson Yards Observation Deck will offer a truly unique New York experience.”
The website for Edge mentions that the “boldly” angled glass will allow guests to physically lean out over Manhattan…which we imagine only the brave will test.
Located along the Hudson River, the skyscraper tops out at a whopping 1,296-feet-tall. The building was designed by architect Kohn Pederson Fox and is slated to open on March 11, 2020. Grab your tickets here!
